I wasn't aiming my message at anyone in particular, just at the
readership in general. If you wish to ignore it, you may. If you wish to
be informed by it, you may. If you wish to take offense at it, you may,
though none was intended.
Unfortunately, many publications don't seem to avail themselves of the
services of an editor (this is NOT aimed at you, Mary). I find that MANY
magazines have so many errors in them that I'm astounded. It used to be
that one could learn correct grammar and spelling by reading, but,
unfortunately, that is not often the case nowadays.
As for spelling not raising the intelligence level, it may not. It only
seems that way to others, and if you wish to seem more intelligent, you
may want to spell correctly.
OK, I can see right now that people will think I'm saying that you are
not intelligent if you spell incorrectly. That is NOT what I meant. I
only know that I like to put my best foot forward, so I try to spell
correctly. I take what's written here in the spirit in which it is
written. I do not disparage anyone for misspelling. I know that you're
more interested in getting your message across than anything else. I can
only say that I was born with the curse of being a perfectionist, just
like my father. I have gotten myself into hot water before because of
it, and looks like I did it again. Will I never learn???
Jo (who puts her nose where it doesn't belong all too often!)
