I enjoy the stories; here's one more:
I was working cattle in an unfamiliar area. As 'Jitterbug' and I tried to
head off some unruly steers, I suddenly found myself underneath her, yet
still in the saddle. She'd fallen into an unseen irrigation ditch hidden by
tall grass. I was in the narrow washout and she was upside down on me,
thrashing like crazy to turn herself back upright. She finally righted
herself and got out with neither one of us hurt, but the ranch foreman was
screaming at us like crazy for falling down and letting those steers get
away! (Which is why I like endurance riding; ride managers are a lot nicer
than ranch managers!)
