I'd be happy to dig through my literature and cite the research that
mentions tying up problems. However, it will take me a few days as
believe it or not, I do have a life and right now, a four year old
little girl has priority over cyberspace, no offense.
However, you need to re-read my earlier posts. I passed on the opinions
of Dr. Snow re glycogen loading, I did not refer to any specific
Snow research regarding the same. Dr. Snow is extremely qualified and
I'm willing to at listen to what he has to say rather than automatically
dismiss him. Whether or not you consider his opinions of any worth is
entirely up to you. When I stated I had read about tying up problems, I
was referring to a number of other studies from other researchers, not
specifically to Snow's research. However, I will find those studies
again and post them accordingly.
As far as being "emotional" and relying on "humble opinion", I am only
stating my own position regarding my own horses, what I have been taught
by qualified scientists and what I have read in published research from
respected journals. I am just as entitled to an opinion as anyone
else and I've never jammed my opinions down anyone else's throat.
Please excuse me if I choose to be conservative in how I manage my
horses---like most endurance riders, my horses are my pets and friends,
not simply a source of income. If I cause them injury through some
stupid mistake, I don't just shrug my shoulders and ship them off to
Palestine, Texas. How anyone else manages their own animals is entirely
up to them. My horses may not be million-dollar racehorses, but they
are priceless to me, so please excuse me if I choose to manage them
accordingly.
However, if being ridiculed (and I'm sure there is no malice in it, Tom)
for being emotional, conservative and respecting Dr. Snow is the worst
thing that happens to me all day, then I think I've got nothing to
complain about. Again, here's my humble opinion but I've always thought
respect had to be earned but everyone deserves courtesy. And on that
basis, thank you for your response and have a nice holiday.
