1. I had a special band to attach it above the knee to keep out the sand and
water. Sand mostly....it jams up the mechanism and it quits working properly.
And Yes...it will read accurately above the knee....I tested it.
2. You need to measure a trail somewhere with your vehicle. Preferably one
mile. Walk and trot it to see which dial applies to your horse's stride. The
middle dial matches my horse exactly at walk and trot.
3. It doesn't read the same at a canter. If you canter the mile you may be
able to match one of the other dials....I don't know. But you wouldn't be
cantering all day so it would be difficult to figure out acutal mileage
switching back and forth between the different dials.
