Just thought I'd make a note of what I've done with both of my horses and
their "endurance riding careers". I bought them both binders at the office
depot store, the ones with clear slide in pouches on the covers - and
inserted photos of each horse and printed a page out from the computer with
each horses name on it.
Then I got a lot of those little plastic protector sheets and made up a form
on my computer that lets me fill in all sorts of info about each ride. I
would be happy to e-mail anybody on this list a copy of it. On this page I
can include information such as: Ride date, name, location, travel distance
and time, camping area, trail info, weather conditions, food, how the ride
went, placing, if I got lost, and general comments. I have been filling out
these forms after each ride and find they are invaluable for looking up
later, as I tend to forget all the little details. ;^) Also, I will include
with each ride the documents I've received such as the ride map, vet card
(my most valued possession is my horses vet card from his first 50 with all
A's on it!), ride information, etc. I also include photos, names of people
I met and who I rode with, etc. I usually also copy the page from EN
showing our ride results. If I get really ambitious I also want to print
out my ride stories and put in there. I think I'm going to need a bigger
binder next season. In the back of the binder I have another form that I
made up that details each horses health history, shots, illnesses, worming,
shoes, etc. It's nice and tidy and all in one place. It's also a good
place to put all those certificates! I've been threatened that we are not
going to have "Weaver wall-paper" in our house <g>, so I can't frame them
all so this is a good place for all this stuff. I have those page divider
things so I can separate subjects, and years. Again, I'll be happy to
e-mail my forms to anybody, that is if I can find where I put them on the
hard drive....<g>
