I am not sure if you're an AERC member, but you can register your
horse(s) for mileage credit for FREE with your AERC membership! All you
have to do is give ride management your horse's AERC number to ensure
that the miles are credited. Everyone receives credit for their mileage
- top ten & riders who finish last.

As for receiving nothing, each ride is required to award <something> to
each team that receives an official completion. I'm not sure if the
rides in your area missed that in the AERC handbook, or if you were
looking at the "big" prizes the top ten got compared to the completion
awards.

I would highly recommend joining AERC - good magazine, voting
privileges, credit for rider & horse mileage. You do receive patches
for each "level" of mileage acheivement.
