Hypercalcitonism refers to an excess of calcitonin. Hypercalcemia
refers to an excess of serum calcium.
Calcitonin is the hormone which protects *against* hypercalcemia,
by promoting renal excretion of Ca, and *inhibiting* mobilization of Ca from
bone.
So, yes. Excess Ca in the diet makes it more difficult for the body
to pull out its reserves in a crisis.
