Good thoughts, Kat. but your shoer was probably wrong about why his squared
toes made the difference--clicking is generally a matter of less than an
inch's worth of foot. It wasn't rapid breakover (at least not primarily), it
was less toe sticking out and a shorter stride behind. With this kind of
shoeing you risk the hocks and I suspect you'll have more difficulty getting
the roundedness you're looing for.
Your ideas on conditioning/training, though, are great. Wish my riders had
this kind of knowledge and ability. Email me your snailmail address and I'll
send you a copy of my video, Exercise Rider: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
You'll see immediately what i mean--and you also will have ideas and thoughts
that I missed.
