<< But Tom, can you measure heart? Not size, or beats per minute, but from
within where we can not enter?
Julie, yes, via ultrasound scanning. We measure left ventricular volume and
contractile fraction (when the ventrical contracts, how far does it go--50%,
80% or 20%). This study is ongoing, but we've found that the best of our
racing TBs have large ventricular volumes and contractile fractions. This
measurement is being pioneered at our facility by Dr. Michael Foss, with
instructions from Barrie Grant and Norm Rantannen.
>> And speaking of other dimensions, you have added so much valuable
information
to this bulletin board that I have deleted none of it and have reams of
material to go back and comb through in detail. Do you ever go on a
lecture
circuit, or do you do guest speaking ? I feel sure many AERC members would
love to hear you first hand. Julie
Julie, the last time I talked to endurance folk was at one of Teddy's
seminars. I've never felt that I knew enough about the sport to give
definitive advice. Still don't, but I'm learning a lot from this group.
