Bareback riding, when I was a kid and my father bought my first horse he
decided that before I could get my first forward seat jump saddle I had to
learn to jump 3 ft bareback/no hands! I thought what a fun challenge,
little did I know that I was learning a lesson in balance:} Dad's are
sneaky that way! It was the best thing he could of done for me. I hope to
take some of my lessons with Jihad's and my trainer bareback and I'd really
love to learn Sally Swifts Centered riding. I wonder how you find a Sally
Swift type instructor? Does she have a homepage?
As for being an overweight MOM, since I've been chasing Jihad around driving
him I've lost 5 lbs!!!!!!! PLUS I get to go back to Jenny Craig for Xmas!
I want to make lightweight division. Can someone please tell me what weights
the weight divisions are? And I've been working out but not regularly
enough:} Work and life keep getting in the way!
Jihad is coming along great! I can now lounge him with the saddle on and
drive him with the saddle on. He dosen't care about the girth, but he is
spooky about things over his head. We have been putting weight in the
stirrups on both sides and he is settling down for that too, but you can
tell he isn't relaxed about it. When I drive him with the saddle his head is
down and he is just relaxed as he could be:} We got past the spooked about
things touching his hocks I can now drive him with the lines down low
hitting his hocks and he dosen't mind at all. But he gets pretty pumped up
about the weight in the stirrups. It sure is different training an older
horse, takes ALOT more patience I think. I just have to take things really
slow. I don't mind I've got all the time in the world!
