riding witout a crew

In the organization which sanctions most of our competitive rides in
the East, ECTRA, we are not allowed to have crews (although many of
us has conned our spouses to graze the horse while we take a break).
Doing a 3 day 100 is a lot of work. But, it prepares one for two
things. One, how to handle a hold in an endurance ride should your
crew not make it (it happens!) and two, how to appreciate how much
work your friends and spouse are doing just to make your day nicer.
I think that with this training, many of us are not afraid to ride a
50 without a crew. The best part of a crew for me is having them
drive home!
