Dianna, oh goody! I'm new to endurance too, but, you've asked a question I
feel qualified to answer! As the parent of three kids, (boy/girl twins, 6;
boy age 9.) I also went through the hitting and biting stage, particularly
with my boys. I, too, had heard the "hit 'em, bite 'em back" theory and it
just didn't sit well with me. My solution was to show my disapproval with my
expression or voice and walk away and ignore my child at that moment. The
good news is, it's not an unusual thing for a 15 month old to do and it will
pass, eventually. I think it's just their way of testing their assertiveness
and independance at an age when they are beginning to recognize themselves as
individuals.
As to the alfalfa issue..... I, too, used to feed a strong mix of alfalfa and
had heard the concerns about it. I switched to timothy, to which I add a
little alfalfa/grass mix. I do believe it helps. My horses seem to have
more energy and hang onto it long. They've also lost any signs of hay belly
they had.
I'm not familiar with Purina Strategy. Can you tell me more? I feed Purina
Omelene 100 mixed with Rice Bran.
