Stephanie Teeter, I hope you get this message. I was talking to Sue and
Dennis Summers and they mentioned you had recently been kicked andhad
undergone knee surgery. I also went through a similar ordeal and wanted
to offer some encouragement. my horse kicked me and shattered the tibial
plateau (the top of the tibia). I had to have it pieced back together,
and a steel plate installed on the side of the knee. The surgery was
about 4 hours. I have an impressive scar to show for it, but that truly
is the only remnant of this whoele event.
I was not weight-bearing for two months. After that, it took a
year of pretty intense physical therapy to regain my full range of motion.
But---the good news is that if you REALLY work at it, you WILL regain
virtually everthing. At least that's what they told me. And I've done
100's since then; I run, ---everything I used to do, except kneel for
long periods of time.
Sue said yours was soft tissue injury--from what I saw at the
physical therapy clinic, you guys recover a lot faster because there
isnt bone involved. So you are probably already weight bearing, and can
start back faster. Keep at it.
Hope you get this message. Hang in there. See you at a ride
sometime.
