Marisa asks about feeding LMF with "hot" results . . . talk about deja vu.
My five year old arab mare was the same story. I switched to rolled oats
and added rice bran (Natural Glo) and she's been a doll ever since. The
fat in the rice bran supplies the energy needed for the work. My mare
could not handle the sweet feeds like the LMF formulas, however, my fifty-
miler gets 2+ pounds of LMF endurance formula everyday and double on race
day and a couple of days after. She also gets 1 pound of rice bran with
her LMF. The five year old gets 2 pounds of oats and 2 pounds of rice bran.
I am just beginning her conditioning for next year and she is still too thin
so I'm trying to add weight as well. Try eliminating all sweet feeds. I
understand Sterling Pellets and Tiz Whiz are good alternatives to rolled oats.
I just use rolled oats because it works for Cassidy. I also feed vitamins
and biotin supplement.
Good luck, Joyce
