[endurance] Intro and saddle question

Hi everyone,

I have been reading posted messages for a few weeks now. I love
hearing everyone's stories. I am already learning a lot and I am sure I will
be asking more questions.

I have a 7 y.o quarter horse gelding. I purchased a McClullen saddle a
few weeks ago. I enjoy riding in it so far.

I do have a question about it. I can never remember this, but
when you have "dry" spots under the saddle after riding, is this bad?
The spots that are there are even on both sides. Approx 8 inches past
the point of the shoulder. And a strip down the spine.

I do know that to fit the McClullen, you measure one hands width from
the point of the shoulder back.

My main concern is the dry spots. My neighbor says its good. But after
reading a few comments hear, it sounds like it might not be. Any info on
this would be appreciated.

I am interested in starting distance riding. Are there any people on this list
from Central Massachusetts Area?

Thanks
