Where were you carrying the water bottles? Yes, they must be balanced from
one side to the other. I've had several riders put water bottles behind the
cantle and that just didn't work. Because they are two-point riding and/or
posting, the back of the saddle is free and the water bottles cause the back
of the saddle to move with each stride of the horse. The horses were getting
loin rubs from this movement. Once the bottles were removed permenantly, the
rubbing stopped.
-Genie, thought I would throw in another comment about this. Myself
and all my friends that ride the Sport Saddle, ride with water
bottles behind the cantle without ever any problems with it. We
all use the Snug Pax cantle bag. These can be made especially for the
the Sport Saddle with extra longs straps to go to the cinch. We
also all another strap to go either around the back of the cantle
or crupper ring. This pack does not bounce or move at all! I have
never noticed with this combination that the weight of the bottles
causes the saddle to rub on the loins.
-I do have a question. If you don't have water behind the cantle,
then where do you carry it? UP front?
excessive heat to that area with the neoprene. What I prefer - year round -
is a girth with elastic on both sides. It makes sense that this would be
much more comfortable for the horse. For humans, it would be the difference
of wearing a tight pair of jeans compared to stretch pants. Major difference
in comfort!
-Next question! Since the Sport Saddle is rigged for Western
cinches, where do you find cinches with elastic on both ends?
Please feel free to email me personally as you attempt to work these problems
out. I'll be glad to help all I can.
-Hope you don't mind I posted this to newsgroup-should be
interesting for quite a few folks!
