I've experienced a lot of differing opinions from vets at rides when using
my Sports Medicine Boots. Some vets think they are great and provide
excellent protection, while others think they are dangerous and cause too
much heat build up. I've used mine on two 50's during the heat of the
summer and would have to say that there was no heat buildup - but I took
them off at the stops and sponged his legs down as often as possible.

Does anybody else have any opinions on these boots, or first hand
experience? I am only using the boots as protection, not because he
interferes. They do a wonderful job of protecting but I am concerned about
the long term use regarding heat build up. Also, it's been suggested by a
friend that by training and competing with the boots on that in the long
term this may weaken the horses tendons. (??) Lately I have not been using
them as often for this reason, though it is during a training ride that he
seems most likely to be not paying attention and clobber into something.

P.S. btw, Wendy, 'suppliment' is spelled 'supplement' :)
