Unfortunately it seems that while many people are taught to ride few are
taught horsemanship. Maybe, as a group, instructors should concentrate
less on cantering by the third lesson and more on horsemanship. Some
other sports such as competitive shooting require a person to demonstrate
competance prior to actually competing. Newbie auto racers wear an orange
ball on their vehicle until they prove they are safe. Maybe we should think
about this.
