I have ridden many happy hours both in training and in competition in my
good old fashioned army fatigues. They come in two grades of cotton, heavy
weight and light weight. They are adjustable in the waist. They have almost
no bulk in the inseam area, and a reinforced crotch. The pant bottoms tie
around the ankle so the pant leg does not ride up. There are six huge
pockets---enough to carry lunch and all kinds of good stuff. ANd of course
they come in fasionable camouflage colors. I have ridden in army fatigues
for about ten years! I get a good friend in the army to buy them for me, but
they can probably be obtained from army/navy surpluss stores. I also wear
half chaps over them occasionally. The thigh is loose/kinda like the old
english jodfurs----I love them. I also have several pairs of riding tights.
I am pretty thin. I have a hard time keeping them up around my waist without
them falling down and sagging in the crotch---thats very uncomfortable to
have your tights sag in the crotch!. I also really love my Millers stretch
riding jeans--really comfortable, but kinda tight.
