Ok, the pros and cons of what we wear....
Millers equijeans (the stretchy ones). I have 2 pairs, I really like
them! I also have a pair of the equichap jeans. I sprayed water proofer
on the chap part and wear them in rainy/wet weather. They cost alot if
you buy them direct, but I just got 2 pairs for $20 each at the 4H tack
sale. That's how I got the chap ones. If I had paid $80 (the catalog
price) for them I'd probly be really unhappy, but for $20 they're nice.
You definitely need to sew elastic stirrups on the bottom of them though!!
They ride up really bad otherwise. I've done this on the bottom of all
my riding pants.
Riding Tights/Breeches--I own 2 pairs of Kerrits riding tights. The
cotton/lycra ones. I have one pair of heavy weight ones, and one pair of
light weight ones. They both have knee patches. In the winter, with long
johns under them I didn't get rubs. But now that the weather has warmed
up, and I've shed the long johns I get rubs on my calves from the stirrup
leathers. With the knee patches, the leathers don't pinch my knees, but I
do get blisters on my the inside of my calves. I just orderd a pair of
suede half chaps to wear with them. I'm hoping that they will really
help, and still be cool enough in the summer. Also, I go through lots of
water, and wet riding tights can really cause blisters!! I'm sure the
half chaps will help with this too.
Brushing & Snags--Hi Wendy! I go through -lots- of rough brush too. And
have worn my tights for this. Granted, I don't have the shiny nylon kind.
I don't know how they would hold up. But my cotton ones have done very
well. They have a few minor pulls but nothing major. They do not
however, offer -any- protection from blackberry brambles and the like!
I have a whole collection of big, loose, and long T shirts, and
sweatshirts that I wear with my riding pants! *:) But honestly, I really
like the way the look with a big tshirt, and it's VERY comfortable!
Saddle bums trekker tights--I had been gonna ask you guys about these.
Someone said they just bought a pair. Would you please let us know how
you like them?? They look really nice and comfy, but they are -very-
spendy. They are in my Back in the Saddle catalog for $69.95.
Take care everybody!
