Gelding a crypt colt: I think it has to do with liability. Selling the
colt as a gelding when he may not be....
BTW I have seen geldings actually breed "their mares", and they are
otherwise definitely not studdy! The one I'm thinking of now was gelded
as a 3yo, he is 7 now, and I don't think he was ever used as a stallion.
