Hi,

I am new to the Internet and have been "listening" to all of the conversations on your mailing list and I am finding it all very interesting. I am an Arabian breeder and lover of the breed, living in Quarter Horse country. I broke and trained my first Arabian when I was 14 years old. Have never found another breed of horse like it.

I am a firm beliver that the hot-blooded breeds need to be trained and ridden differently then the cold-blooded breeds. If an Arabian owner takes his horse to be trained by someone who is use to working with Quarter Horses the Arab will not respond as well. If fact I know of some trainers that hate Arabians! Can you imagine someone having any patience in training a horse if they hate that horse?

I am going to set out on the limb even futher and say that the majority of Arabians can be trained to be quiet and reliable mounts. Just remember the Arabian was originally used as a war horse. Someone going into battle would not risk his life by riding a nervous and flighty horse. If an Arab is acting "hot" and won't walk or stand still, 9 times out of 10 it is because of the handling and attitude of the rider and the training of the Arabian!

Also, does anyone know who I can contact to find out about endurance rides in North Dakota. I am not able to find AERC homepage.

Thank you,
Lynette
