I don't usually get side aches, but I did have an experience with one a
few weeks ago...  I don't normally eat or drink much before I ride.  But
this time I did.  When I was out riding I got a -really bad- side ache.
We were going well, so I didn't want to stop.  I just "rode it out".  When
I was running that's what the coach always said to do....  I took quite
awhile to go away, but it finally did.  Then the next day I went out
riding, it came back almost immediately.  That time I stopped for a
little while till it subsided.  Then I walked for awhile.  Haven't had
another since....
