Some friends have asked me to ride their new mare on her
first 4 day distance ride (for pleasure) in April. By the end
of that week I should know lots more about the breed :-)
I do ride a Missouri Fox Trotter currently. I really enjoy
him a lot although my dressage lessons are a little unique
on him. He has a lovely fox trot and a rocking horse
canter. He will tend pace when he is less fit or if the
footing is rough. He has competed in 25 mile CTR's and
done well. I've been riding him for about 2 years and lots
of miles and have not had any soundness, sore back or
related problems.
We're gonna ride that Andalusian mare for the first time
saturday if it doesn't rain. Can't wait to get her under
saddle as we've been ground driving her through out the
winter (when there was no snow). We hope to have her
driving by mid-summer also. While to big boned for
endurance she sure will be fun for dressage and driving!
.. and then there's the Arabs, QH's and TB. We have a
real variety pack in the barn)
