It's been fun to reading about what other people carry on the trail. It's
given me some new ideas. Thanks. Actually it has been like peaking into
someone's purse! SO...
What do I carry?
3 water bottles - 2 with water and 1 with Gatorade
Snacks - Fig Newton bars, Tiger bars, carrots
Electrolytes - 1 premixed dose
Small roll of vetwrap with a telfa pad and rubber gloves stuffed in the tube
Hoof pick
A "film container" with Advil - if you put the Advil in first then stuff a
kleenex on top it keeps the pills from rattling - and you have a kleenex if
you really need it
A sponge OR a scoop (one or the other)
A note in a zip-loc bag that reads "If you find this horse without a rider....."
It goes on to state my name, address, phone number, and other information
about what to do with "this loose horse." NEVER think it can't happen to
you! (I am going to order dog collar tags to put on my halter, bridle and
saddle.)
On me: I now carry ID and insurance information. (This is new, since being
taken to the hospital by helicopter from the Las Trampas ride. Imagine
the look on my face when the lady at the hospital asked for my insurance
card.)
