this saves me time and ride vets are great, they know your horse. I simply
pay the vet the Health Cert. fee separate from the ride as vet work.
2) I know this might not go well for some - I would like to see rides call
for Health Certifiates on ALL our horses at the registration table. To start
with at least the out of state horses, even if that state does not require it
-- for the health of all our sport horses --
endurance works these horses hard and they have close contact, share feed,
water stop areas etc. and vet in areas -- we can only be responsible for our
own horse care management - however - the sport is growing.... when was the
last time you saw all horsemen at the same level of care and or knowledge for
their horses?? and I think it would be a good representation to others
outside our sport to see us take health care seriously, although we all do of
course, it would simply be another statment of the kind.
Perhaps the Health Certificates could cover a longer time span, so you would
only have to get one or two a season, but the vets would know that area
better than I.
Fortuneatly, rides I've been to haven't a history of horses getting each
other sick, but why wait until disaster comes?
just a thought...
