Do you sit the trot, stand in the stirups, post, none of the above?
NATRC judges in general have in the past expected people to be slightly up
out of the saddle. That seems to be changing slowly.
Do you change your riding style during a 100 miler?
Do you tail?, and why?
I know in theory it is to rest the horse. It seems to me as Karen Paulo
says in her book, you loose IQ points as you go down the trail, or
something like that. Isn't it the rider's job to stay sharp and be the
brains, and the horses job to lug our butts down the trail, or up the
mountain?
if you are spending your energy tailing are you really doing the team any
good, or are you loosing more IQ points that can cause a mental laps late
in the 100 mile ride?
I have only gone 50 miles so I don't know what I'm talking about, or whats
out there that other fifty.
What does it take to make that leap, or is it just a bigggg step?
