For someone who gets low blood sugar, power bars are atleast something
I can swallow. I too like the Wild Berry best, but I'm one of the few
who also like banana (call me weird), and the chocolate are closer to
tootsie rolls than real chocolate. If I eat real chocolate, like
snickers (or sinkers as Truman likes to call them ;-) Hi Truman!
I'm not poking fun at your typo... just acknowledging that we all
end up with them... ) then I get a sugar rush which drops me off an edge
a few minutes later. There are other "bars" on the market but they
crumble. The power bars can melt into goo on a hot horse, but the
foil they come in atleast allows you to peel off the bar in bites
instead of crumbling to the ground as expensive bird chow. While I
do have body fat, it leaves me to my own devices in times of need.
I think power bars taste better while riding because I am famished,
I know the consequences of *not* eating, and at that point just
about anything would taste good!

I read a great blurb from Becky just a little while ago. Did anyone
else catch it? She said she couldn't stand gatoraide in her water
bottle, but Judith knew she needed the electrolytes so she took to
putting a mixture of water and gatoraide in Becky's water bottles. Like
10 or 25% gatoraide and the rest water. This sounds like a great solution
(oooo... pun!) to me and I plan to try it at my next ride. Basic green
gatoraide, not that ucky blue stuff.

Fruit is a great idea... bananas would be the best if they didn't get
constantly squished and sat on. Grapes are wonderful! And beef jerkey.
Beef (or Turkey) jerkey sticks (ouch! I did it again!) with me longer
than other foods. Trail mix and dried fruit is good, except the nuts
are a bit high in fat which produced a "lump" in my stomach. I take
along the packaged Kellogg's Rice Krispy treats which tend to be edible,
but they don't last very long and tend to be sweet.

What does everyone eat in the morning? I've heard bagels, hot oatmeal
and hot cream of wheat. ...and Truman's cold baked potatos.
