Our club (SEAT - Southeastern Association of Trailriders) is
considering sponsoring our first AERC 50 mile ride in SE Virginia (appox
1 hr South of Richmond, VA) on October 26 & 27, 1996 - The Isle of
Wight 50. We would like to know if there would be any interest before
I plan any further. Is anyone interested in a limited distance ride run in
conjunction w/ the 50?

Also, anyone w/ advice on organizing/sanctioning such a ride, vets who
would be interested in judging, etc., please email me. (Vets would
be treated ROYALLY and supplied a nice hotel room, GOOD food in
addition to fees that may be negotiated.) We have run an ECTRA ride
before as well as large fundraisers and pleasure rides - always a
great time.

Camping would be at a private farm with the trailhead leaving from
the farm itself. Water & port-a-johns would be available. Hotel
rooms are w/in 15 min., and town/groceries w/in 10 min.
Trails on private land would include dry wooded overland trails boardering
cypress swamp, field edges, clay roads, colonial farmstead property, and
powerline access roads. Their would be less than 2 mile of hard top
roads with good traffic control/low traffic volume. The terrain is flat to
gently rolling w/ some short hills and ravines to climb - no appreciable
elevation differences. The same trail would be run twice, with the base camp
acting as the midpoint hold. The meal would be a home-cooked,
Virginia-style pig pickin'!!

If you would be interested in such a ride, please email me! If you
supply your Snail-mail address, I will be happy to mail you information
and applications as they become available.

Thanks!
