[endurance] Any experiences with OCD?

My riding buddy asked me to post a query about OCD.
Her 8 mo. old arabian filly has recently been diagnosed.
She is very large (14.1) and leggy for her age. After
standing around in snow and sludge for 6 weeks she was
taken to the trainer to be prepped for halter. This problem
showed up after a couple of days on the lounge line when
she became "off".

Xrays came back clean and she is considered very
conformationally correct. The vet recommended
BUCKEYE feed and taking her out of training if the
problem persisted. This is a high $ filly out of great
endurance stock. My friend will do what is right but really
hates to take her out of training since she has been told
that this filly is nice enough to qualify for the Nationals.

Has anyone else had an experience with this deficiency?
How did you treat it?
What has been the outcome?
Any feedback appreciated.
