Wow - I found *my* friends's horse lame, hot and swollen in three legs
too - Thursday morning. He also was diagnosed with laminitis! My
friend/vet speculated that the a/v shunts in the foot (which keep the
feet from freezing) may have 'stuck' open, causing a buildup of
heat and consequent founder. I have a friend whose pony foundered
two years in a row on January 1 - for no apparent reason.
Anyone else had experience with unexplained founder during extreme
cold spells??
