I seem to go through (and I mean trash) a pair a season. What I do is get
the most comfortable pair of light weight hiking boots I can find at a
discount place and use them. I sometimes buy them when I find them
independent to my need. Then when I blow out a boot, I have a good pair in
the trailer ready to go. I can also change into dry boots at a vet check
if my boots get soaked (regular occurance).
My stirrups are about 3 to 4 inches wide, nylon with a neopream pad. They
seem to work well. The nice thing about the combination of boots and
stirrup is there is no way no how these boots will got through the stirrup
so I don't have to be concerned about getting a foot caught.
