I used to condition on dirt roads a lot, but a drunk driver made me think
about my mortality. Now, if I don't have time to go somewhere safe, I
don't get too excited, I just want to live long enough to compete the
horse. The drunk that nearly took out me and the stallion actually
stopped down the road about 100 yards and got out to look at his car to
see if he had hit us. I still have dreams about that one.
I want to just be able to show some of the idiots pictures of what
happens when dumb people try and show off to their friends by spooking
the horse. I have seen some very graphic photos of dead horses and dead
riders due to this type of *fun*. It is not a thing that I want to see
again, and I certainly don't want it to happen to me or any of my
friends--or enemies for that matter.
