It would be fun and interesting to compare heart rate recoveries, etc. I
have used heart monitors for years and using daily make s big differnece in
really knowing your horse. Comparing horse to horse is almost like comparing
apples to oranges...each one is a unique individual. As long as a horse is
operating with what is consider an acceptable norm by the ruide vets, should
be okay and merely reflect that individual. Individual horses can vary quite
a bit, particularly from breed to breed, but the heart monitor, although it
can vary a little, is generally very accurate.

If you have ever read any of Tom Ivers stuff (by the way, it is Tom Ivers
that introduced heart monitors to the horse world and turned it over to Roger
Rittenhouse to market for us as Tom works with track race horses and could
not offer the experience of using them in our sport) you will learn alot
about what heart rates indicate what, even in evaluating a horse before
buying one.
