Star rolls regularly at vet checks and seems to benefit from it. His pulse
drops and he lets out a big sigh and starts to eat heartily, as if he is no
longer distracted by an itch. Sometimes if he won't relax, I will remove
his saddle and take him to a nice grassy spot to roll. I think he enjoys
it and I would hate to think that it is harming him. I guess I could start
carrying a Grooma to vet checks to scratch his itchy hide.
Any vets have more information on rolling leading to a colic? I would
think that these horses are rolling because they are already colicing! But
what do I know, I'm only a second-year student.
