Paul,
You didn't tell us where this ride is to be located.
I think you will find the concerns can be regional.
Out in Calif. we really like to see water at key milages.
Like at the first vet check. 15 miles, 40 miles etc.
Of course a loop back to camp for a lunch stop would be ideal!
The west region is dry all summer and that's when most rides take place.
If water is not available on the trail then you need to get a truckload
of water to strategic places. Especially at the top of hills.
