[endurance] Yosemite closing stables

Please put this out to the network. LOOK OUT! Yosemite's stable concession
has requested that NPS allow them to discontinue all but the most necessary
horse operations at the park. They cite a number of reasons, but in our
opinion, they do not have sufficient reasons to shut down the whole
enchilada. If this is allowed to happen, it won't be long before no horses
are allowed in the park. How do we know this? Because eliminating the
concession will eliminate the facilities, which most people need when they
visit with their horses, like corrals, water troughs, etc. The local
outfitters and such are VERY concerned about the impact on their businesses,
and stress that this would be "an end to an era" if the horses are
eliminated. Folks, if this is allowed to happen, what will be next? We are
being squeezed out of area after area. In many cases, it is at the demand of
mountain bikers, bless their speedy little hearts, and as we have found, both
can co-exist easily when all parties observe common sense and caution. So WHY
are we losing so much trail space? Partly because we don't speak up in time.
Please, PLEASE, whether you use Yosemite or not, contact your assemblyman or
congressman and tell them NO on this request. Your park might be next!
