Intro and Endurance Riding in Scotland

Hi all!

I've lurked on this group for some time now, and thought I should say hello.
I'm from Edinburgh in Scotland, where I work at Heriot-Watt University, and
have a 16.1hh dark bay TB (ex Racehorse) called "Danny Boy".

Dan is currently recovering from a tendon injury, we've done the months of
walking and are now slowly building up the faster work. He loves galloping
and jumping, and we were just starting to get our act together in (novice)
show-jumping before he went lame. So why do I subscribe to the endurance
group, I hear you ask?

Well, we do a bit of everything - XC, SJ, dressage, and have done one
"Pleasure Ride" (12 mile) so far (before Dan went lame), and have another
(10 mile) planned for the end of the month, as part of his recuperation
programme!

The other reason for my endurance interest is that the yard (= barn) where I
keep Dan is run by the girl who was top Scottish Rider 2 seasons ago, and we
also have a few committe members here or hereabouts. So I pick up quite a
lot of endurance stuff by osmosis! Your discussions on general fittening and
horse care are very interesting, so thank you.

Just to finish with, if you're interested in finding out more about ER in
Scotland, I have constructed a few WWW pages - look at:

or email me for more details. BTW - this weekend is our Scottish National
Championships, over 2 days in Kelso. It's probably too late, but if anyone
is coming over and wants to look in on us, let me know!

Bye for now,

Rose (and Danny)
