trailering long distance

We were gone over two weeks with the horses out west; almost 2000 miles
altogether, including a two day breakdown. I have found it is not the
trailer but the moving that is bothersome to the horses. As long as you
stop, they seem to be OK. We put hay on the floor (shavings works better)
and clean often. All the hay they want, no grain, and lots of water.
Water is very important. They had to spend two nights in the trailer while
we slept in the camper. Overall, they did great, but they did lose some
weight. Be sure to bring a blanket.
Good luck!
