Limited Distance / Endurance Ride

Hi everybody,

After the NATRC and English status what's happen in FRANCE ?

Endurance rides are existing from 20 to 160 Kilometers(Km).

Even if French is supposed to be a rich language we only use one word :
Endurance for all distances.

We are experimenting enhanced rules since 1993 in former called Qualification
Rides:

Speed is limited from 20 to 110 Km :

20-40 Km 10 to 13 Km/h
40-60 Km 12 to 15 Km/h
90-110 Km 12 to 16 km/h

Every body finishing is qualified for a longer ride
Qualification gives the possibility to access to a longer ride : no
obligation
Even with the limited speed and individual departures we do a classing
To "win" ( more exactly to be 1st in the list) the challenge is to be
fast (in the limits) with the best heart rate after 30 mn
Points are calculated with the formula :
((Your Speed)*2 - Minimum speed of the ride)*100 / Heart pulse

Points of discussion are numerous but it's a Cartesian approach of
endurance ....
Qualification word tends to disappear and they use terms such as
"Minutes late, minutes in advance" regarding MAXIMUM allowed speed.
The main (hidden) objective is to give a taste of competition in
limited distance rides, some kind of market driven regulation.

Fortunately we still have long distance rides .

130 Km and over : 10 Km/h no limit speed (Florac, Nancy, Rambouillet,
Montelimar etc)
2X100 Km idem (Montcuq)

Coming events (FRANCE)
23 July : Rambouillet "the fastest european race"
2 September European Endurance Championship
16 September Florac "the french Tevis Cup"
Any body visiting France at that time ?

It seems to me that's a gap is forming between short distance competitors and
long distance riders.
Fortunately Internet gives us the possibility to ear Rich, Truman, Oogie and
you everybody speaking of long distance Spirit. Thank you all.

Pierre Bulte.
