[RC] heart rate monitor query - Michelle AquilinoI definitely don't think that people who don't use a HRM is an idiot, but I also definitely like using mine.? Of course, both me and my horse are both still new to everything.? I also am very timid when it comes to pushing my horse, so seeing her heart rate when moving, watching how fast she recovers just when stopping at a water stop, helps me feel more comfortable pushing her just a bit more.? It also helps me see when her heart rate gets too HIGH, particularly when climbing a large hill/mountain.? My horse will easily try to run up the hill, but if we're at the start of?a 50 that I'm just trying to earn a completion on, I don't want her going too fast and keeping her heart at a high rate for a prolonged period of time.? It helps me in a lot of ways, but that's me, and I definitely don't tell everyone else that they NEED to use one, lol.? I mean, seriously, people have been doing endurance for quite a while before they were even invented for horses ;-)? I actually think people are all the better if they can tell how their horse is doing without one, ha ha.? Good for you!? On that note, the "idiot" diagnosis would probably be better given to me ;-)? For those of us who NEED a HRM to tell us how our horses are doing, lol...-- "Don't breed or buy while shelter animals die"
