RC: TOO MANY CHAMPIONS

Mike Sofen msofen@pacbell.net
Quite true. There are a few sports where "size does matter". :-)

Seriously, other than those two events and the weightlifting-type events
(which aren't timed events), there are no timed events that have
weight/size/height classes - no running events, no swimming events, no
skiing or skating events, not pole vaulting nor high jump where size might
make a difference; not cycling or marathons (where weight definitely makes
a difference) or even basketball (where height makes a difference)...in
fact, I can't think of a single TIMED event in the Olympics or World Cup
arena where height/weight is segmented.

Endurance isn't strength, so size correlations and categories aren't
meaningful. Junior, Adult, and Senior divisions are (in my opinion).

Mike,

Please check the Olympic wrestling, boxing divisions...they have weight
division champions and each winner is the Olympic Champion of their
respective weight division.
