This is part of the problem--attempting to correlate to HEIGHT. It is not
HEIGHT that determines how much bone is needed, it is WEIGHT. The thumb
rule is 8" for a 1000 lb. horse. And although the relationship isn't
perfectly linear, one can figure that a 1200 lb horse had better have well
over 9" while an 800 lb horse has oddles at 7".
