Ridecamp: [RC] Myler combo bit

I decided to try the myler combo bit instead of a hackamore because my young horse doesn't neck rein yet. I was wondering if anyone could share any nuances of using this combo bit? I ride on contact, although it depends on what we are doing how much contact.  Can I do that with this bit?  I don't relish the idea of going along on a loose rein completely on the forehand.  Thanks for your help.
