Ridecamp: Re: [RC] [Guest] Actors Who Can Ride

Tom Selleck very much rides. Has a ranch near Murdock's (of Ventura 
Farms) and Robert Wagner, who also rides. The business manager for both 
Tom and Robert was the administrator of the Trust for Gil Van Camp (Van 
Camp Pork and Beans, Starkist Tuna, etc) and we purchased the remainder 
of the Arabians in the Van Camp Estate (bought 21 horses just to get 
Amsterdam, son of Tallin). Interestingly, when Zane saw HAlynov at our 
place (and at 16.2 he really stood out) he said he had tried to buy him 
from the Califatos a few months before we did for $85,000 for Tom as a 
gift. Dick refused to sell Hal to him because he wanted to geld him 
before he gave him to Tom. I told Zane that Tom could come up and ride 
Hal anytime he wanted to--- just couldn't touch his balls  ;-)
That is as close as I ever got to Tom Selleck, but I hear he enjoys 
riding a lot, as does Robert Wagner.
BTW, I met Patrick when I was videoing his trainer's horse (Rita McNair) 
at his place. I told my kids if they went with me, they would meet a 
movie star. Of course they thought that Mom had lost it, but just to say 
I told you so, they came with me. Sure enough, we spent about three 
hours with Pat sitting on the floor of his tack room sharing horse and 
dog stories. He is a VERY nice guy and VERY into his horses, especially 
Tallin. The only problem he has is when he shows (like at Scottsdale), 
some of the women were actually reaching over the rails to touch him and 
spooked his horse. I told him it would probably be better not to pose 
anymore with Tallin with his shirt off. He did it to sell the posters to 
make money for the youth classes--- sold a lot, but then he was left 
with the consequences.
Oh well, back to the real world...
Bette, who is unashamedly guilty here of name dropping--- hey, you live 
in Paso Robles and nothing very exciting here happens so "youse takes 
your thrills where you can get them!"
