    Hi -

I've been perusing the online AERC rider/horse records of some of the +5,000
mile horses, and it seems many of them start their careers with 500 miles or
less their first year.  Is this the conservative course for not burning the
horse out mentally or physically?  How do rider's set their milage goals for
their horse's first season?
