On my very first endurance ride, Castle
Rock, in 1971, I had felt it was somehow very important to carry a tube of hand
cream in my saddlebag, along with a candy bar. Well along in the ride, I
met up and rode with Clint Ritchie and offered to share the candy bar.
Unfortunately, the hand cream had blended nicely with the chocolate, but Clint
was very gracious about it and took the half candy bar I offered him and ate it
anyway.
