Sounds like you've already prepared him. :-) Just prepare yourself, mentally. The miles between 25 and 40 are the longest...and it's in YOUR mind. Just tell yourself, "I'm going to ride all day" and then put your mind out of gear. Don't do the little kid thing of "How much farther Daddy?" every 10 minutes. Enjoy the scenery, ride with somebody who's interesting to talk to and don't make the mistake of thinking, "This stirrup is too long, but I don't have time change it". Whatever's bothering you, fix it before it becomes a big problem. It's a lot harder to ignore pain for 50 miles than 25.
