Re: RC: Aluminum vs. Steel Horse Trailers

Can only tell you what I experienced. I bought a 1986 Featherlite for $9700 brand new and sold it 14 1/2 years later for $8,000. At one point I wanted to have the floor replaced because it had a few pinholes in it because the horse urine interacts with the aluminum and my trailer guy said it was such a strong floor he did not recommend replacing it. He put a coating over it and that did the trick. As far as I know, it is still working. My roommate took it down and had it acid power washed when it was about 12 years old and it looked brand new. I wanted to keep it and wish I still had it but I could not turn down that money. I have an old steel two horse for schlepping around so selling the other one was a good idea but I still miss it....

I now have a new Featherlite with LQ that I have had for two years. I still like it just fine.
