Re: [RC] Actors Who Can Ride - Bonnie Davis
Oops, sorry guys. To the person who e-mailed me privately and 'suggested' I
do this -- sorry to all you readers for taking up 'space' on non-ride camp
info. Just following the conversations.
And about 'why do I think I know it all', I don't. But my Dad was
considered by the Library of Congress Early Motion Picture Historical Museum
as an 'expert' on the early motion picture industry. My dad and mom were
part of it -- they had a wild west show, worked with the Tom Mix Wild West,
were at the Chicago World's Fair way back in the late 1930's and I grew up
in it. Met a lot of the stars before they were stars, rode some of their
horses. When he died his private collection, letters, posters, film, etc.
were donated to historical museums around the country.
Today, movies are made with computer graphs. A 'star' doesn't even have to
be on a horse. He sits on a rocker in front of a blue screen and then its
computer generated and readded. The movies of the 40's were made on hard
dirt, in real rain, sloppy mud and getting dumped by real horses. And if
one doesn't take the time to remember what the past was, enjoy it on their
own, question the why, thrill at where you've been, wonder what's on the
other side of a hill and smell the flowers along the way, you're just riding
to darn fast!
Sorry if I've stepped on someone's toes. Gotta go see my horses, bye!
Bonnie Davis
